  1. I'm not saying about receding hairline but that the hair in the donor area are more thick than the hair that were originally in the hairline that are instead fine. what do you think about that?

    yes

the diameter of the individual hairs do play a role in the detectability of HT especially in the hairline

can the diameter of these hair become finer as the years pass?

    SURE

it may take many, many years or not at all, since these hairs are less affected by the miniaturization associated with DHT

  2. given your styling desires then you probably will be fine at 50 grafts/cm

no matter the density you get, HT gives the ILLUSION of the same density as non balding areas

hair caliber per unit and diameter of shaft factor into this illusion as well

    NOT just grafts/cm2

that said, trying to achieve higher densities than 40-50 grafts/cm2 will most likely yield a lower % of surviving grafts, aka wasted grafts.

so better idea to go for 2 HT each at 40 grafts/cm. this is the optimum way to prepare for HTs in general.

with "the second/third,etc. pass," it's the best chance of high grafts survival rate and an opportunity to adjust the design and areas that need more coverage.

better to go into the HT procedure knowing that you will need at least two to satisfy your cosmetic needs but might get lucky and only require one. it will also put you at ease to know that whatever isn't satisfactory to you from the first procedure, can always be adjusted in the second.

    good luck

  3. it doesn't matter which session has more grafts

    that said

there is a higher graft survival rate per session at lower levels

that is, it is more likely to have more grafts surviving %-wise during a 2800 graft session than a 3800 graft session.

So even though you might need more grafts in the future to satisfy your cosmetic needs,

don't fret about not having more grafts transplanted in the first session

in the long run, better to do in multiple sessions

  4. good info from your doc

    (thinnest is @ 6-8 weeks)

yeah if you didn't buzz the donor area at all then you have some shock loss

    not bad though

i see that your recipient area had hair. i wonder if he transplanted around these or thought they were miniaturized and just transplanted into the area fully

    looks very clean

    no pimples!

  5. Why there is no common consensus about shampoo?

is there a survey to analyze the best way to shampoo?

    can't answer the WHY's

only that there is not one

so that leaves us to LISTEN TO OUR DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS exclusively

Been through one myself and i can tell you the LESS YOU DO TO THE GRAFTS IN THE FIRST WEEK, THE BETTER

  6. I read this once from a top HT surgeon: Hair is deliberately transplanted at lower than naturally-occurring densities and so we depend on some illusion to make it look fuller than it actually is. Transplanted hair will always look fuller when 2-3 inches long, dry, separated, and styled to layer like shingles on a roof. It will always look thinner when cut short, spiked up, parted through, wet or clumped with product.

    this should be a STICKY
