Toppik Dulls Hair?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone noticed that when they use Toppik it gives your hair a dull matte look? I tried it this morning and it seemed to make my hair which is normally shiny take on a dull non shiny look.

Toppik definitely makes your hair look and feel different. Make sure you don't use too much, that you pat down the area to shake off the excess particles, and you could try using their sprayer to get a more even distribution.

I actually just bought my first bottle of toppik, mainly to try it out so I can write an article on it for the Hair Loss Learning Center. Though my crown is thinner, it really doesn't bother me anymore, so I most likely will not be using it regularly. But at least, I'll have personal experience with the product and be able to comment.

From my reading to date, badger's reply is spot on. This is also similar to dermmatch. From what I hear, a little toppik goes a long way and the mastery of application is very important.

You will then have to decide if you like how toppik makes you look.

Best wishes,

Bill

This is the main reason I stopped using Toppik; conversely, when I tried Nanogen as a last-ditch effort for that breed of concealer it worked like a charm. I also found Nanogen to cling to the hairs in a superior way (i.e. a little went a longer way).

I really think Nanogen is the king of concealers, and I've tried them all and applied them a ridiculous number of times. The ultimate, if you have the time or need the boost, is proper Dermmatch application followed by Nanogen -- but, Nanogen alone, for sheer convenience and utility is tough to beat.

Yes, I agree Toppik does cause a dulling of the hair. I found that using the provided "salt shaker" applicator was causing excessive deposits on the scalp. I started using the atomizer (sprayer) and found I was able to exercise much more control over where and how much was applied. It also reduced the dullness effect.
