Guest
I had my transplant about 5 days ago and so far I haven't seen any fallout. The swelling has finally gone down and I wonder how much my existing hair will be affected. Any ideas on how much existing hair is lost before the new hair kicks in? Guest
David - Expect most of the transplanted hairs to shed during the 2-6 weeks after surgery. daveinsanantonio - If you're talking about loss of existing hair near the transplanted areas (shock loss), this varies greatly by individual. Mitch
Not everyone sheds. I lost only about 10-20% of my FUVs following the procedure. The remainder just continued to grow or remained stagnate and then grew a month or two later. I am now 5.5 months post -op and after about 5 months I looked like a different person. Shortly after the procedure no one had noticed that I had a transplant. But after about five months many people made comments about how good my hair looked or that I looked different. However, I hadn't seen my brother for a while and last week when we had dinner he came out and asked me (in front of my entire family)if I had a transplant. I denied it of course- responding that the Rogaine has really worked wonders!Good luck and I'm sure 5 months from now you will be ecastic with the results. Ryan Ha, when people ask me I just say "it must be the Viagra". That ends the conversation pretty fast.
Guest
My doctor e-mailed me back shortly after I posted and told me the same informatin about fall-out. I'm so pleased with the work. I'm already trying to decided it I want one or two more operations. I started just to "fix" a bad operation, but now I'm getting greedy and want the back portion of my head covered too....... I am lending towrds one more operation, but maybe a 2500 FU's..... david
Senior Member bverotti Posted July 23, 2002 Senior Member Share Posted July 23, 2002 I had my HT done on june 13th. At first I thought I would be the lucky one not to shed the transplanted hairs because after 4 weeks almost nothing had shedding. I spoke too early as soon after the 4th week hairs started dropping ! Today, 6 weeks after HT about 80% has gone. To David : where in Germany did you have your HT done and by whom ? Consultant-co owner Prohairclinic (FUE only) in Belgium, Dr. De Reys. cmarshall88
Since you didn't have the fallout, curious to know what post-op procedures you did. Did you use GraftCyte or something else?
Senior Member arfy Posted July 28, 2002 Senior Member Share Posted July 28, 2002 cmarshall88 David had his procedure quite recently, less than a month ago. His grafts are still likely to fall out. Just because his grafts haven't fallen out yet, might not mean anything significant. In fact, you could argue that having them fall out sooner actually means that "permanent" hair will begin to start growing sooner. As of yet, I have not heard anything about when your grafts fall out indicating a good or bad result. Maybe a doctor will chime in if this means anything in the long run? Vstone
I had my HT done 9 days ago(sutures come out tomorrow). I have had alot of hairs fall out in the past couple days(started on day 7). I am 21 years old, my hair grows freakishly fast. Could this be the reason why mine are falling out this early? When can I start using Minoxodil on the treated area, and when should I go get a haircut?
Guest
I forgot about this post, sorry. Yes they did fall out, very soon after this post, actually. Not all of them, but enough that I can tell. bverotti, I got my transplant in Belgium, Brussels. I couldn't find anyone in Geramny. There were two sites listed in Europe on this site (three?). The others were in England. Dr. Devroye was my doctor and I've posted a lot about him, I am very pleased. I have a full account of the surgery on this site. Original Devroye didn't have any pictures, so I went to see his work in person and I was sold. He just posted pictures a few days ago, if your interested. david
