Regular Member maxhair Posted December 26, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted December 26, 2008 We all have different financial situation here on this site. But one thing we have in common is the desire to get our hair back and most of the people here REALLY WANT TO HELP. There are some very nice and giving people on this site. Maybe we could extended that into some concrete assistance. So, I have an idea. First, I don;t want to start any accusations or bad feelings between us. It has been suggested that maybe some posters are working for some clinics or are getting free work done I'm not accusing anyone because thats is not my style). I have no ill will towards anyone but i bring this up because it might create a problem for my suggestion. here it is... Maybe the prominent posters on the board could all band together and start a pool that we could draw from when the time comes for each persons' HT. If we all pitched in $50 (just a first number that comes to mind) a month and gave away about 30% of the total cost to a members HT to posters that are of a certain ranking, it might help people in the situation where having the HT is somewhat needed immediately. This would work especially good in that scenario. Well, I know this is practically a utopian idea that might never work, but hey I like big ideas and I feel there are a good number of honest posters who are eager to help. Maybe a paypal account run by Pat or Bill. Am I dreaming or does anyone else find this intriguing? thanks fellow brothers My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr Arocha
Senior Member thanatopsis_awry Posted December 27, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted December 27, 2008 Biggest problem I can think of (other than the super obv) is that there is a pretty defined rotation of who "top posters" are, as they come and go. This seems to be the nature of the beast, and a result of the subject at hand. Hairloss is intensely personal -- especially for those who actually get a HT -- and it's touchy ground. Especially once you get a HT it's rather natural to want to "move on" from all things related to hairloss, and put that (mainly) painful past behind as much as possible. There was a good thread titled something like "what happens to posters" that had a good discussion of this and other reasoning. Intriuguing idea, either way! ----------- *A Follicles Dying Wish To Clinics* 1 top-down, 1 portrait, 1 side-shot, 1 hairline....4 photos. No flash. Follicles have asked for centuries, in ten languages, as many times so as to confuse a mathematician. Enough is enough! Give me documentation or give me death! Bill - Seemiller
maxhair, It's definitely an intriguing concept, but given the cost of just one hair transplant (even a smaller session), members would have to contribute a lot of money into this "pool" just so one person could get a hair transplant. And then, even if we could collect enough money, who determines who is elligible for the money and how often? What criteria would this person use? Several years ago we did host a "Win a Free Hair Transplant" contest that was highly successful. Instead of members donating money, one of our physicians did it out of the kindness of their heart. In return, this physician got extra visibility and recognition during the contest since it was highly discussed on our very popular forum. Something like this may be more feasible to do again. Perhaps we can consider this or other ideas like it in the near future. However, if you feel compelled to organize and orchestrate your idea independent of this community, but keeping us in the loop, you are certainly welcome to. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member Byehair Posted December 27, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted December 27, 2008 Thank you so much. I am honored to be selected first for the free transplant. Either Feller, Rahal and H&W will be fine for me. You guys are awesome.
