Senior Member Jotronic Posted August 19, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted August 19, 2009 This is a unique case that no doubt most of you have not seen the likes of before. This local patient underwent a procedure many years ago to attach a hair system to his scalp. At one point some clinics would create "tunnels" in a patient's scalp tissue in order for hooks from a system to latch onto. We have seen several of these cases over the years and have reversed them all successfully. Dr. Hasson performed two procedures on this patient. The first session was performed to remove the tunnels and give the scalp time to heal. Once done Dr. Hasson and his team were able to move 4134 grafts in one session. Ten months later (and without hair coloring) the patient has a much more manageable head of hair that is not subject to routine maintenance (and infection) like his old hair system. Senior Member the B spot Posted August 19, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted August 19, 2009 Great Job by Dr. Hasson----Joe did the patient express why he went this route? He still had quite a bit of native hair left.....? Anyway, looks like a homerun to me, and hope it prompts more just him to consider getting out from under the "rug" Jason Go Cubs! 6721 transplanted grafts 13,906 hairs Performed by Dr. Ron Shapiro Dr. Ron Shapiro and Dr. Paul Shapiro are members of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. Senior Member Jotronic Posted August 19, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 19, 2009 Jason, As with many patients that have a good amount of hair he were talked into it by the hair system rep. I have seen guys with what seems like minor loss shave their heads entirely just to wear a system that has unrealistic density. Senior Member thanatopsis_awry Posted August 19, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted August 19, 2009 Great result....can't believe he had that butchery done to his head prior...just stunning....**shivers** ----------- *A Follicles Dying Wish To Clinics* 1 top-down, 1 portrait, 1 side-shot, 1 hairline....4 photos. Senior Member M&M Posted August 19, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted August 19, 2009 It's just barbaric what used to be 'commonplace' many years ago with certain clinics taking advantage of the insecurity of the balding patient. Between scalp lifts, scalp reductions, huge plugs... and the list goes on. Congratulations on a great repair on this patient. Jotronic: I know we talked about this some time ago, but have H&W ever repaired a patient that was unfortunate enough to go that New Jersey outfit that used to create 'circles' in the scalp attaching hair weaves to staples, if memory serves correctly? It was just a brutal procedure leaving many suffering complete baldness as the body rejected the foreign object (staples). I also remember the same company shut down and resurfaced offering new 'strand by strand' hair weaving, and showing one of their former patients with circles around his scalp as a former butchered 'Hair Transplant' patient. Such lies. M&M ___________________________ 1662 with Dr. Ron Shapiro - Spring 2006 1105 with Dr. Ron Shapiro - Fall 2009 M&M Weblog
Regular Member TooThin Posted August 19, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted August 19, 2009 This is great work. It's unbelievable how some of these crooked hair piece outfits operate. I am sure this guy's quality of life has greatly improved now that the rug is gone.
Raphael84
Great result. This site truly is an education. This is something that I have never seen before and cannot believe that this was once accepted as a positive improvement. It certainly is not anything natural. But great positive ending. Senior Member phxind Posted August 20, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted August 20, 2009 It really amazes me to see so many consistently beautiful results from this clinic. Joe, do the doctors just do one patient each a day? or more? ------------------------------------------------------------ My Hair Loss Website - Hair Transplant with Dr. Alexander
Senior Member Jotronic Posted August 20, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 20, 2009 M&M, I think that what you are talking about and what this patient had are similar. Metal hooks were used to attach his system into the folds of skin that you see in the before pic, highlighted by the yellow circles. We've seen dozens of these cases. Aska, What about the texture? He has coarse hair but that is about all I can say. Oh, he used to dye his hair, now he does not. Phxind, It depends. If either doctor has a large session going on then that is the only one for the day. If there is a smaller session then a second one can easily be performed at a later time in the day. Senior Member vincehair Posted August 20, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted August 20, 2009 Those hair "tunnels" are disgusting but he has nobody to blame but himself. Not like they put a gun to his head. Looks a lot better but i'd like to see the old "hairline" and new.
Bill - Seemiller
Joe, I couldn't help but cringe a little reading that this patient had tunnels dug into his scalp for his hair system to attach to. What some clinics still do... I also hate the fact that some sales representatives take advantage of people's vulnerabilities. That's why hair loss sufferers are often the victims of sub-par hair transplants and to bogus treatments. Sure, it's up to each man and woman to diligently research and draw their own educated conclusions - but I don't like those who take advantage of people when they're vulnerable. That said, what a terrific hair transplant result by Dr. Hasson. Thanks for sharing, Bill
Senior Member Jotronic Posted August 21, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted August 21, 2009 Vincehair, I understand your point that he has nobody to blame but himself but this could be said for those that receive bad hair transplants. When this patient had this procedure done I'm sure it wasn't explained that, "Hey, we're going to cut some holes in your skin to make loops for some metal hooks to grab onto to hold your wig in place." I'm sure it was described in a much less offensive manner and one that may have even been attractive. Also, there wasn't much in the way of research that could be done back when this was performed. Bill, I could not agree more. Senior Member justgrow Posted August 26, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted August 26, 2009 I really do not know what to say. I had no idea that this type monstrous of hairloss treatment existed! I am certainly glad for this guy and his results. Bill, I cringed as well. I am curious what is scarring looks like after he had the tunnels removed now.
