Dr. Alan Feller
Thana, Your growth is excellent. Especially for 8 months. Here as a quick before after that I put together. I will post the rest of the photos later: http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/thanatopsis/9-11-08/1.jpg

Senior Member Eman Posted September 30, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted September 30, 2008 mentioned this on the other post by Dr. Feller, so not to be redundant, but your hair looks AWESOME!! How long did you use dermatch? And can you post some of the pics of your buzzed look? Next week, when I get my sutures out I will also be buzzing and have not thought about hiding the scar at this point...any pointers? Thanks! My initial HT thread: done and done!! Check it out... Senior Member thanatopsis_awry Posted September 30, 2008 Author Senior Member Share Posted September 30, 2008 Hey, thx again, appreciated! Anyways, I used dermmatch/nanogen up until 6months. It was around then that it hit me that I could attain very good coverage, and enough density to add a bit of style, "au naturale". I think I still have pics of my head freshly buzzed down right after I got my staples out -- in my weblog...if not, I'll search around for them and hook you up w/ 'em. Mistake I made: did it myself! I gave myself a pretty uneven buzz, which was too tight in some areas, not tight enough in others....that said, it looked alright, and, importantly, over the course of the next ~2 weeks it got *exponentially* better. I'd recommend two concealers to hit the scar with -- couvre and nanogen. And def get someone to do the deed for you if you can. Most likely, something will still look amiss; that is, it won't look 100% seamless, but it should look pretty good and def not be a raging "OMG COSMETIC SURGERY SCAR". Aside from that, be real...assiduous....in your treatment of the recipient/donor region, as I am sure you already are, and you should be in pretty good shape. Buzzing is def the way to go IMO once the sutures/staples go out... ----------- *A Follicles Dying Wish To Clinics* 1 top-down, 1 portrait, 1 side-shot, 1 hairline....4 photos. No flash. Senior Member Eman Posted October 1, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted October 1, 2008 Saw your blog with the shaved down look. My gf will be attempting to cut my hair with my clippers...she is not thrilled about doing it. But better than taking it into my own hands. I have to decide about hiding the scar and putting anything on the recipient site. I may just wait until I get exponentially (keeping my fingers crossed) better. I kind of like the ridiculous looking head right now?!? My initial HT thread: done and done!! Check it out...
Dr. Alan Feller
Here are some picture I took of Thana just after his staples were removed, that's about 10 days after his procedure.. He looks like he had a buzz cut, but it's really all grafts in the front. http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/thanatopsis/16.jpg http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/thanatopsis/17.jpg http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/thanatopsis/18.jpg http://www.fellermedicaldata.com/images/thanatopsis/19.jpg

Dr. Alan Feller
I don't know if I even bothered to take a picture of his scar. In most cases the scars are so thin and small that the camera doesn't pick it up unless the hair is shaved. I'll look through my database to see if I attempted a photo though. Senior Member thanatopsis_awry Posted December 22, 2008 Author Senior Member Share Posted December 22, 2008 Just a quick verbal update, with pictures to hopefully follow. My hair has matured a great deal since month ~8....I can't say for sure if I've had more growth, but my hair certainly looks better. All in all, since my last update @ Feller's office my hair is *much* improved. In party it has matured, and I have also become more adept at styling it! Coming up on my 1yr "anniversary" and it's truly uncanny how my life has changed, and morphed along with my hair over the course of the past year. When I do a 1yr update I will compile a master series of hair pics (as some that Dr. Feller took I don't think are in this thread, et. al.), and also a summation of my HT experience and how it's effected my life. I'll end this pseudo-update on an upbeat note and quip: in my (new) circle of friends I'm actually considered the guy with the cool hair..... EDIT -- also, my scar....which I'm pretty sure had stretched a bit....and also didn't seem to be progressing much even as far as month 8...RADICALLY different (for the better) in the months since.....come January 8th @ my 1yr mark I expect a solid scar.....fwiw, I was never terribly concerned about my scar...for a variety of reasons.... ----------- *A Follicles Dying Wish To Clinics* 1 top-down, 1 portrait, 1 side-shot, 1 hairline....4 photos. Bill - Seemiller
thanatopsis, Improving our appearance is great. But the reason we get hair transplants is to improve the quality of our lives. I'm pleased to hear that restoring your hair has also rejuvenated your spirit. From the pictures I've seen, you are certainly are the guy with cool hair. You deserve it my friend. Senior Member thanatopsis_awry Posted January 14, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted January 14, 2009 He y'all....sorry for the delay and going past the timetable I set...right after my lasting posting I've been working through an unexpected, "personal tragedy"....which has pretty much been consuming me, so I haven't had the will to hook up my iphone and do the said update. That said, I haven't forgotten, and there will be a nice update in the coming days. I have some random/casual shots that really exemplify just how far I've come, which I have on my phone (staying w/ my parents at the moment), and some hardcore mop-shots on my camera, which is back at my apartment. ----------- *A Follicles Dying Wish To Clinics* 1 top-down, 1 portrait, 1 side-shot, 1 hairline....4 photos. Senior Member thanatopsis_awry Posted January 16, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted January 16, 2009 Well, quick update....I'll include more of the harsh, hair-porn pics we all love so much later! Right now, I have access to a bunch of recent shots that just show me how I normally look....a bunch are either in or right before "social situations" that I never would have been a part of were it not for the HT! So, I figure I'll post them -- and I've included lots of close-ups, sunny shots, etc. in the past, so I think this is a good change of pace; also, appropriate for my 1year update, as I'm moving past the constant inspection of my mop....trying to pinpoint weaknesses....expose it in X lighting, at Y angle, etc.....all are ~12months, except for one in the green shirt which is 10, I believe. I feel like I've come full-circle in many respects, and I feel very fortunate that what was once a total wrecking ball is now actually something that I take to be an attribute! (re: the follicle ) EDIT -- I'm going add some some comparison photos side by side.....I was really SO balded pre-op -- virtually no frontal 1/3rd, let alone a hairline, and I looked radically different overall.... EDIT2 -- http://www.fellermedicaldata.c...topsis/9-11-08/1.jpg I want to find more pre-ops to compile, as this one actually looks quite "good" compared to the others floating round! A few top-downs that I've seen were simply horrifying! ----------- *A Follicles Dying Wish To Clinics* 1 top-down, 1 portrait, 1 side-shot, 1 hairline....4 photos. No flash. Senior Member thanatopsis_awry Posted January 16, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted January 16, 2009 Thx C_B -- I'm sure you will, Rahal is awesome, no doubt! FYI's: Page 3 has my 5-6month update w/ an additional pre-op; end of page 4 has a good comparison-shot outdoors top-down in bright light; page 5 has a bunch of outdoor hairline shots @ 7months; the pic in the link above is an 8month'er, from when Dr. Feller took month8 documentation (including video). I'll try to select the most representive shots at some point and do a series, I think, so it's easier for people to get a feel especially by adding some more pre-ops....basically, though, I had no hairline or frontal 1/3rd before. EDIT -- I'd like to add that while I shudder to think of where I might be were it not for Dr. Feller, this site, and my decision to get the HT, I learned SO much along the way....and changed a lot, as well....the entire process has given me a newfound perspective, toughening me up some, and heightening my empathy for anyone who is dealing with any sort of physical-like affliction. So, while this has probably been the single best decision I've ever made, I feel that with my *current* perpspective (which, for me, took the process itself to achieve) that I *could* have gone a different route and still been happy...i.e. buzzing it up....and going forward I believe I will be all the more powerful and well-armed in my ability to control future perspective. ----------- *A Follicles Dying Wish To Clinics* 1 top-down, 1 portrait, 1 side-shot, 1 hairline....4 photos. Bill - Seemiller
Thanatopsis, When I clicked on this thread and looked at the photos briefly, I didn't realize it was you.
