Senior Member Mickey85 Posted July 7, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 7, 2012 Hey guys, I have looked at some pictures of donor scars and in the cases where the scar stretched, it seems to occur mostly on the sides of the head and rarely the back. Is that the general consensus? Are the sides more prone to stretching due to day to day activities and/or lifting weights? Senior Member NEWHAIRPLEASE Posted July 7, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 7, 2012 I would say the sides are certainly more prone to stretching...any part is gonna stretch as a result of weight lifting too soon, but in general, yeah I think the sides are gonna stretch more... Senior Member Jotronic Posted July 7, 2012 Senior Member Share Posted July 7, 2012 The areas most prone to stretching are the "corners" in between the sides and the back near the mastoid processes. When removing the strip these are the areas that are tightest and must be addressed with the most care. Senior Member Mickey85 Posted July 9, 2012 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 9, 2012 Thanks guys. Can itching the donor area causes stretching? Dr. Glenn Charles
Also the lower parts of the donor area towards the nape of the neck tend to leave wider scars. Probably because the neck muscles attach to the scalp in that area and pull on the wound during the healing process.
