Regular Member JohnJohnB Posted January 28, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted January 28, 2013 I am having a HT with Dr. Path in 2 months. He said he could remove my sutures 5 days after the procedure, at which point I will fly home. I was wondering if this is too soon? I would like him to remove them but I also need to get back to work. What do you guys think? http://www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog/home-page.asp?WebID=2669

Bill - Seemiller
John, Each physician has their own set of postoperative instructions, including when to remove the sutures. Varying philosophies and instructions are related to slight variants in a physician's technique. Dr. Pathomvanich is an expert in the field so if he feels that 5 days is adequate, I would trust his word. Just make sure to follow his postoperative instructions to prevent any additional strain on the wound while it's healing over the first couple of months. Best wishes, Bill
Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted January 29, 2013 Regular Member Share Posted January 29, 2013 The others are correct. Rely on your doctor to do what works best in his/her practice. We do sutures out at day 7, occasionally 6, and rarely day 8. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member Shampoo Posted January 29, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted January 29, 2013 Looking back at my Hasson/Wong Post-Op Instructions: "If you have staples, they are to be removed 12 -14 days after surgery. If you have sutures they are to be removed 7 - 10 days after surgery."
