seeking Hair transplant in NYC area

Hi guys,

Please have a seat to take a couple of minutes to look my story. I realized I'm losing hair when i was around 22, now I'm 25, currently level 3 balding i think. I’m Chinese and I actually did much research in China about HT. I once decided to take a surgery in China. But this industry is quite a new one in China and not matures at all. Those clinics did not persuade me to do it there and i realized that most of them care about your pocket more than you. So maybe thats why i did not take HT though I did the research for almost 2 yrs..

Now I living in new york metro area for school, suddenly one day I realized." I'm now living in the one of the best cities of America, where has world's most advanced medical treatment. Why not take surgery here?!" And living in NYC, i think i can find one of best surgery to get. So I start research online. yeah, there are so many information about the physicians online. everybody saying they are the best which made me confused as the case when i did research in China.

Here are my questions,

1 since i'm a rookie here, can anybody recommend me some sites/forums which is like this amazing forum. I mean, I would like a one pretty much traffic and information, many many patients like me discussing HT surgeries all the time. I love communicate with other patients sharing our experiences online.

2 most of the results are good online and I am wondering whether there is a trick here because i know there do have unhappy patients out there. And in China, when i did the online research, i found many people hired by clinics posting only good thing in forums and let the patients only see the good results of that clinic. So how do you guys deal with this?

3 when people compare different clinics, usually they are comparing the doctors. but in the surgery, doctors usually do the donor area only and let their assistants do the working area. So can I say that we are comparing doctors for a small scar (for FUT) and how the transplant result would be, mostly depend on the clinic staffs there of their experience and reasonability?

I do find several good doctors in NYC area after several days research and do anybody have any suggestions for choosing clinic or recommendations for certain doctor?

Any advices or thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you guys!

I and many others have come from Britain to go to Dr. Feller who is in Great Neck

There's also True and Dorin and some others who's names escape me now but you have plenty of options!

2,000 grafts FUT Dr. Feller, July 27th 2012. 23 years old at the time. Excellent result. Need crown sorted eventually but concealer works well for now.

Propecia and minoxidil since 2010. Fine for 8 years - bad sides after switching to Aindeem in 2018.

Switched to topical fin/minox combo from Minoxidil Max in October 2020, along with dermarolling 1x a week.

Wrote a book for newbies called Beating Hair Loss, available on Amazon

I used Dr. Feller for all of my HTs. He is an incredible surgeon, as well as innovator in the HT field. Also a great person. I'd also consult Dr.Wesley, and I like the work Dr. Frank has been showing.

I am the owner/operator of AHEAD INK a Scalp Micropigmentation Company in Fort Lee, New Jersey. www.aheadink.com

Consult with all the recommended doctors in New York, check their results, try and meet patients etc. in person consultations help you so much.

You're in the right place. This forum is populated by extremely educated patients and clinic shills are called out and exposed pretty much immediately. Good advice in this thread; Dr. Feller is probably in most peoples top five best HT surgeons in the world. True & Dorin have a great reputation and Dr. Wesley is an innovator and well respected in this field. You can search on this site for recommended doctors in your area and there are many genuine patients on this site who have gone to the best doctors in NY and you should use them as a resource for sure. You are obviously an intelligent person who was not reeled in by sub-par clinics, I suggest you continue your due diligence and use this site as a resource to make an educated decision on your choice of HT surgeon. Good Luck!
