Senior Member Cant decide Posted June 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2013 As many of you know, I have a second procedure with Dr. Rahal in August to address the crown mostly. My first procedure addressed the front and mid. I did not shave my entire head during my first procedure but instead, only the required donor and recipient area. I am thinking of just shaving the whole thing for this upcoming procedure. I figure it will be easier to keep things clean and I would look terrible anyway with only the recipient shaved. Plus, in either case, I plan on living mostly under a hat for three months. What are everyone's thoughts on this? I must say, I have this irrational fear of shaving it all off (as if it will not grow back ). I know it sounds strange but the thought of shaving it all off just makes me uneasy for some reason and not due to how it would look. Thoughts? Thanks in advance Gents... Senior Member hairshopeing Posted June 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2013 I'd shave down, it's quite liberating and a nice clean feeling!! Easy to spray your grafts and keep clean, plus your hair won't get greasy from aloe Vera and you can see what you'd look like with very short hair!!! It will definetly grow back, in fact iv heard it said that shaving down hair can strengthen it, don't know if that's true!!

Senior Member Spanker Posted June 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2013 I agree, if you are going to look funny, just shave it down. If my head were normal, I would want hair, but just so I would shave it. I love the shaved feel. your hair will grow back. You may look a little sparse unit you get the layering effect back, but just like I enjoy watching my garden grow, you'll probably enjoy watching the new mane sprout. Senior Member gillenator Posted June 27, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted June 27, 2013 Shaving the scalp, especially in the recipient area will greatly help with avoiding transection as much as possible. So it pays to take the necessary steps in order to ensure the best yield and result. Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic.
