Senior Member Cant decide Posted July 17, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2013 I have been very aggressive with the laxity exercises for almost 3 months. Laxity now seems better than when I had a virgin scalp:) It's hard to measure but it seems like when I move the back scalp up and down, it moves at least an inch and likely even more. How would this laxity be classified? My scalp seems sooo loose. Senior Member gillenator Posted July 17, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2013 To my knowledge there are no classifications to measure scalp laxity however if you have that much play in your donor (occipital) zone, you should be just fine. The key is to be consistent in doing your scalp exercises just as you are doing. Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic. I know you said 3 months ago, but how long from your first procedure?? I am 8 months post op tomorrow, and the back of my head where my strip is, is still a little tender/sensitive. I certainly won't be starting mine for my next procedure until I'm at least 12 months post-op, but would you say you were ready by then, or did you wait even longer?? 4737 FUT with Dr. Rahal on 11/16/2012 Daily regimen: 1/4 Proscar (1.25 mg Finasteride), Rogaine Foam (twice daily), 1000 mcg Biotin, 1 combo Vitamin D/Calcium/Magnesium, 1500 mg Glocosamine, 750 mg MSM, 1200 mg Fish Oil, 2000 mg Vitamin C, Super B-Complex, 400 I.U Vitamin E. Senior Member Cant decide Posted July 17, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2013 Agent - My donor was tender for much longer than average. So, while most are told to start exercises at 12 months post op, I did not start until about 24 months and I really eased into it and went full on at about 30 months. Senior Member Spanker Posted July 17, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2013 I would say that would classify you as above average laxity. Senior Member StaggerLee123 Posted July 18, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 18, 2013 I seem to remember a doctor claimed to have some sort of instrument that measured laxity but it can't be that popular as I have never heard any other doctor ever using it. Like others have said if you can slide the skin an inch or so you are in good shape. I think laxity exercises do make a significant difference. Senior Member Spanker Posted July 18, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 18, 2013 An inch is a LOT. That is 2.5 cm, and almost never take a strip that big. Senior Member Cant decide Posted July 18, 2013 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 18, 2013 An inch is a LOT. That is 2.5 cm, and almost never take a strip that big. My donor started at 118 grafts per sq cm. so assuming it is now down to about 83, and the fact that's scar is 1mm, all he needs to take is about a 1.5 cm * 35 cm strip. I am thinking this must be doable with my current laxity. Senior Member Spanker Posted July 18, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 18, 2013 That is KILLER density. A little jealous. Hopefully I won't need all my donor for a very long time. I think that is higher than my original density. I am an online representative for Dr. Raymond Konior who is an elite member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. Senior Member Spanker Posted July 18, 2013 Senior Member Share Posted July 18, 2013 Shouldn't that leave you with another 2000 grafts left? Shouldn't that leave you with another 2000 grafts left? The plan is to do 4000 this round and leave 2000 in reserves. It could be more like 1800 but Rahal said he will know better after procedure 2 is done.
