Senior Member Forrest Gump Posted July 22, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 22, 2009 I have read reports of finasteride's side effects of decreasing sex drive, etc. I was wondering if any patient or any doctor heard of an increased sex drive. I started taking Finasteride about a week ago (on alternate days), and since then I am highly charged sexually and horny almost all the time. I am wondering if they mistakenly put Cialis in my Finas packet Seriously, does anyone have any insights on this?

Senior Member mmhce Posted July 22, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 22, 2009 Because less dihydrotestosterone is being formed, this means that there is a "surplus" of testosterone in your blood serum. Hormonal levels should return to baseline, though the length of time this takes varies from person to person. take care...
Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted July 22, 2009 Regular Member Share Posted July 22, 2009 Back when I started Propecia, I heard MMHC's argument and logically figured, more testosterone, my bench press may go up. Well it may have gone up a few pounds, probably psychologically; but my drive dropped. Just like I have posted as the main reason that I stopped the medicine. But MOST people have no side effects and I continue to prescribe it to patients. Most are very satisfied with it. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member Forrest Gump Posted July 22, 2009 Author Senior Member Share Posted July 22, 2009 mmhce and Dr. Lindsey, interesting points. You guys might be onto something. There's definitely something going on... I have not felt this way in a loooong time... and I am loving it! Dr Lindsey, it's funny you should mention about additional pounds for your bench press. I was at the gym yesterday, and I noticed that I could press a few pounds more than I usually do. The thought about Finast didn't cross my mind. Now that you mention it, let me see how I do at the gym later today. mmhce, I hope the hormonal levels do NOT "return to baseline" anytime soon
Senior Member latinlotus Posted July 23, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted July 23, 2009 I am not sure whether it affects my sex drive, but if any, finasteride actually increased it. ******** I am not a doctor. TDG
Without a doubt after taking this for 4 months. Was pretty amazed!
Senior Member gillenator Posted July 17, 2014 Senior Member Share Posted July 17, 2014 Every now and then someone tells me that his sex drive/libido increased noticeably after starting low dose finasteride. But it has definitely been the exception and not the rule. Could it be that men are so self-conscious of potential sexual side-effects that they focus on their sex drives not failing? One guy recently told me that when he gets home from work, his wife is hiding on him or out running errands...
