Senior Member leftygolfer71 Posted November 3, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted November 3, 2015 Is there any advantage to not letting the shower run over your head a few days past the 14 day recommendation?
Senior Member esrec Posted November 3, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted November 3, 2015 Not specifically addressing your question, but Ive found bathing to be easier. I've been able to lightly massage and lather w/o ducking away from the shower head, and dunking my head under water to let it soak for a good few min, as opposed to just quickly blasting with water. 14 day you should be fine so long as the pressure is moderate. Senior Member win200 Posted November 3, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted November 3, 2015 And honestly, it's even sooner than 14 days... around day 7/8, it's pretty damned hard to harm a graft.

Bill - Seemiller
Leftygolpher, If I understand your question correctly, you are asking whether or not there is any reason not to shower normally after 14 days. I would say the answer is no. In my opinion, you should let the shower water hit your head and you can wash normally unless your physician specifically stated otherwise. In fact, even before that, you should be gently massaging your scalp with your fingertips in order to gently work off the scabs. But again, every doctor has a unique set of post op instructions. So make sure you follow your doctor's advice. Best wishes, Bill
Pete-from-Farjo
As others have said, you're grafts will be completely secure now. Consequently there's no problem with soaking your head in the shower. No particular benefits either except a clean head! Senior Member pkipling Posted November 4, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted November 4, 2015 I think waiting 14 days to shower normally is definitely on the conservative side. As others have said, those grafts have definitely been secure ahead of that 14 day mark. Regardless, it's always best to follow the particular guidelines of your own surgeon. At 14 days though, you're more than ready to start showering and washing your hair as you normally would. I am a patient advocate for Dr. Parsa Mohebi in Los Angeles, CA.
