What determines the Direction of the hair?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Does anyone know what determines the direction of the implanted hairs with FUE?

I know that most of the time the doctor does the extraction and the new slits in the recipient area. Then the technicians implant the grafts into those new slits.

Do the slits that the doctor makes determine the direction of the new hair?

Or does it depend on how the technician implants it?

Thanks!

Both the slits and the implantation method determine the direction of the hair. The incision will determine the angle of the hair. Most hair has a slight curve or curl to it also the doc or techs in some cases should position the grafts in the proper direction for good direction and also should position for proper depth to prevent pitting.

So, you have to get not only the angle right, but the direction.

With Fue and Fut both of those variables you mentioned determine direction.

The incision determines the direction of the hair going into the recipient area. The incision is made by the Dr and this is where his artistry and skill come in. If there is hair in the recipient area already these can assist the Dr in what direction to plant the new hairs at.

So basically the doctor can follow the native hair of which directions the folicals are going.

I guess that's why its more of a challege for Doctors performing HT surgeries on patients with curly hair right?
