Regular Member motegam Posted October 6, 2021 Regular Member Share Posted October 6, 2021 (edited) Recently read up about DUPA and am starting to fear that I have it. My donor area is the thickest part of my hair but you can definitely see thinning. Can anyone provide their input? Senior Member JDEE0 Posted October 6, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 6, 2021 I do understand what you're saying, but I don't think it's DUPA. Now, there's really no way to know without getting evaluated in person, and I've seen cases of people being classified as having DUPA even though their donors look very thick and strong to the naked eye, just that under a microscope they had over 25 percent miniaturisation and so on. I think you just have a fairly low donor density (which makes sense and is usual as you're Asian), looks like the flash is on and your hair seems to be somewhat clumped together? You should go for a consult in person if possible, just make sure it's somewhere that will do it properly as I know even some 'top' and recommended doctors don't always go through the effort of examining the donor diligently under magnification.

Thanks for your response, it was comforting to read. I'm already scheduling an in-person consult with Dr. Bloxham. I think he'll give me an honest assessment. Fingers crossed. I don't know how much I like his whole stance generally against FUE, but as far as his skill and ethics he's up there.
Senior Member aaron1234 Posted October 7, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 7, 2021 Were these pics taken before or after a morning shower? It could be that your hair is a bit oily and it's clumping together. Definitely get a miniaturization test with Dr. Bloxham, he'll let you know what's going on. 1 Dr. G: 1,000 grafts (FUT) 2008 Dr. Paul Shapiro: 2,348 grafts (FUT) 2009 ~ 1,999 grafts (FUT) 2011 ~ 300 grafts (Scar Reduction) 2013 Dr. Konior: 771 grafts (FUT) 2015 ~ 558 grafts (FUT) 2017 ~ 1,124 grafts (FUE) 2020 My Hair Transplant Journey with Shapiro Medical Group
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted October 7, 2021 Administrators Share Posted October 7, 2021 To be honest, don’t take this the wrong way it just looks super greasy. It’s normal to see scalp if your hair is greasy because it clumps up. 1 Quote I was just an inch away from booking a a hairmill based on google reviews before i stumbled upon this goldmine of a forum.
