Mak93
Hello all. I am almost 2 months into recovery on a FUE of 4300 grafts. From my little research I believe this is a sign of overharvesting, but could also be shock loss? Hadn’t even heard of shock loss before today so I’m wondering what you guys opinion is in it? Is it too early to know? If it is overharvesting, is it fixable?
Senior Member gillenator Posted October 30, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 30, 2021 Are these current pics?…if so, do you have any pics immediately post-op to compare?…it does appear that you sustained some shock loss. Thank you for the response. Yes these are current. I don’t believe I have any of the donor following post op. If is it shock loss, how long does it last? Anything I can do to help heal it faster? Senior Member asterix0 Posted October 30, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 30, 2021 That absolutely looks like overharvesting, do you have pre-op and post-op pictures? Who was the doctor, where did you go?
Senior Member TEXAN35 Posted October 30, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 30, 2021 This seems shock loss because a part of it seems to be above the area from which donor would have been harvested. If you can send more pic from the behind the scalp where majority of the hair would have been taken out , will give better idea. I personally didn't have much shock loss but I think it can take 6-10 months to reverse from shock loss. Others who have experienced shock loss can chime in. Senior Member aaron1234 Posted October 30, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 30, 2021 Could be shock loss, could be over harvested, could be both. If it's shock loss, it'll grow back around months 4-6. If it's over harvested, then it's not coming back. 1 Dr. G: 1,000 grafts (FUT) 2008 Dr. Paul Shapiro: 2,348 grafts (FUT) 2009 ~ 1,999 grafts (FUT) 2011 ~ 300 grafts (Scar Reduction) 2013 Dr. Konior: 771 grafts (FUT) 2015 ~ 558 grafts (FUT) 2017 ~ 1,124 grafts (FUE) 2020 My Hair Transplant Journey with Shapiro Medical Group
Valued Contributor Berba11 Posted October 30, 2021 Valued Contributor Share Posted October 30, 2021 Which doctor/clinic performed this? And can you not ask them for the immediate pre & post-op photos that they must have surely taken?
Administrators Melvin- Admin Posted October 30, 2021 Administrators Share Posted October 30, 2021 Two months is still early. Give it time to heal and shock loss to subside. 1 Quote I was just an inch away from booking a a hairmill based on google reviews before i stumbled upon this goldmine of a forum. Senior Member gillenator Posted October 31, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted October 31, 2021 That’s the challenge, it takes time for healing and for everything to cycle through…there are no quick fixes, recovery takes time. 1 Gillenator Independent Patient Advocate I am not a physician and not employed by any doctor/clinic. Senior Member Britanium Posted November 5, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted November 5, 2021 Seems like a combination of over harvesting and some shock loss. Early days, the shock loss will recover. Im guessing this is Ciniks work ?
Senior Member gillenator Posted November 6, 2021 Senior Member Share Posted November 6, 2021 And the other thing is the differences in how individuals respond to the level of trauma from the surgery.
