How to measure growth after a repair surgery

Also, since I'm putting grafts closer together than they normally are with a first surgery, should there be any concerns at 3.5 months about avoiding activities/substances/etc? I can't find a lot of documentation online about repair surgeries, and whether the typical guidance found here and in post-op instructions from the surgeon applies

Example: is it still possible for a graft to just ...die? Or is that almost always constrained to the first month (conservatively)

Tentpole,

In my opinion, the best way to measure growth and the success or failure of a hair transplant is with documentation and monthly photos.  If you’re talking about trying to accurately measure the percentage of growth or exactly how many of a particular number of transplanted follicular units grew that’s going to be a lot more difficult especially if you’re trying to do it by yourself.  You could potentially use blown up photos of each thinning area of the scalp and try to count the follicles but that would be quite difficult.  You may want to ask your surgeon for their opinion.

Best wishes,
