Edelman11
Hi everyone, Appreciate you taking the time to look at my post/photos. What are your thoughts on how the transplant looks immediately post-op? If you have any questions, please just ask away and I will be happy to help. Cheers!
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted June 9, 2022 Valued Contributor Share Posted June 9, 2022 Do you have pre op photos so we can compare? Also who was the surgeon and how many grafts were used (FUE)? 1 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
Edelman11
Thanks for the input Gatsby. Surgeon: Dr Garsing Wong, NZ Hair Transplantation Institute. Pre op photos (most suitable ones I currently have):
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted June 9, 2022 Valued Contributor Share Posted June 9, 2022 Can I ask how old you are @Edelman11 and how did you come across this surgeon? What made you decide on choosing this surgeon? GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted June 9, 2022 Valued Contributor Share Posted June 9, 2022 My apologies as I have just read the title (600 grafts). GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
Edelman11
Turning 28 in July. Google, then had a few consultations with him - 1 in-person, 1 via Zoom. Came across as very conscientious and trustworthy. Main factor was proximity, and accessibility (Covid-19). I have read your, @Gatsby, commentary regarding how short-sighted it is to choose a surgeon based on these factors. Cannot disagree with you too much to be fair. Previous work he showed me, and knowledge demonstrated when discussing the procedure were also considered heavily.
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted June 9, 2022 Valued Contributor Share Posted June 9, 2022 Are you on any medication such as finasteride? You appear to have mild temple recession. Also you have a lot of hair to keep (with only 600 grafts required). Did Dr Wong mention finasteride or minoxidil in your consultation? Edelman11
Thanks for mentioning the importance of medication. I have been on finasteride for nearly 4 and 1/2 years, minoxidil for the same length of time (switched to oral 6 months ago), and have been using the iRestore laser helmet for a similar length of time as well (I am aware that it is a low contributor to progress made though).

You're doing all the right things! 👌It's just a waiting game now with the transplant. Don't expect to see any real growth until month four. Anything earlier is a bonus and expect the hair to fall out in the first few months like all transplanted hair. It's just a game of patience until 12 months. I hope you will update your thread every month and share your journey. Wishing you all the best and thanks for sharing! Thank you for those kind/informative words @Gatsby Do you have any thoughts on how the transplant looked immediately post-op? I am slightly concerned about the density of FU implanted into the recipient areas. 35 FU per Cm2 seems to be quite a mid-range amount from the literature/forum post that I've read.
Senior Member jjsrader Posted June 9, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted June 9, 2022 It doesn't seem nearly as refined as top surgeons - anyways - it's a start.
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted June 10, 2022 Valued Contributor Share Posted June 10, 2022 When the scabs have all dried up and come away can you post a pic @Edelman11. It will be good to see.
