One of these top hat ones? Also, my surgery is on a Saturday as well, was hoping to fly home by Sunday as well… 😬 Sorry for the late reply! I wore the fisherman hat Dr Bicer gave me on my way home. Then I got my own loose fitting fisherman hat for the first couple of weeks. Hope the procedure and trip went well!

Its a little thin at the top of my head just past my hairline but unless you are looking down at my head from above, you wouldn’t really notice. It doesn’t show in photos head-on. We’ll see how things fill in over the next 5 months.

DJ2210
What has your post op care been like? Have you had regular contact to see how you are progressing etc? I went with dr bicer in November and I’d say the after care is below what I was expecting based on other people experiences. Had a few questions which were answered but none of the updates, pictures, calls etc others have talked about. I have also requested details of the procedure (pics, graft count, split etc) on about 5 separate occasions and nothing.

Initially I spoke with one of her staff to set up everything and answer any questions or concerns I had. They would liaise with Dr Bicer. I didn’t personally speak with Dr. Bicer prior to visiting the country but I was offered the opportunity for a call if I wanted. After the surgery, I was offered to do a wash a day or 2 after but my flight was the following day so I declined. I did go in for a checkup before my flight though. After coming home, I was asked to submit photos each month to gauge the progress and I was given feedback on how things were going. I was also told that I can message them anytime (whatsapp) if I have any questions or concerns. They would be supporting me up to 1 year after the surgery. I’ve only been texting through whatsapp. I haven’t done any calls. They also told me my graft count after the surgery (it was a little over 4000 but I forget the exact number). DJ2210
Everything up to and including the procedure was very good in terms of communication, facilities everything. i haven’t been asked for a single photo to check progress etc or had a single message to follow up and have just been ignored when I have asked for pics and details of the operation.

I you don't mind me asking, did you pay cash or with card?

DJ2210
Initially I said no but subsequently agreed on the basis face was blurred out etc. if that is a reason for lack of contact/aftercare then it’s not very professional given the amount of money it costs. anyhow, everything seems to be ok so thankfully not really needed anything. Regular Member ScottishGuy21 Posted February 13, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) I’m 4 months post op and did not agree to my photos being published but found the after care to be good. Her team are available on WhatsApp and respond within a few hours. I had a case of seb derm which Dr Bicer FaceTimed me to examine / give guidance, that aside I’ve not needed to contact them thankfully I have had to send photos every month in. Last month I was a little late and they actually chased it up with me. So it may be worth asking for your photos to be reviewed? I would like to see better quality photos. What are your feelings? Did this HT meet your expectations? Yeah im satisfied. I was told up front to keep my expectations in check. The focus was to build out a solid hairline and add some density behind it. I may have some thinning up top but unless someone is looking at me from above, it isnt as noticeable in person and i look great in photos. So i received what i expected. Before this procedure, I did go to another specialist and they advised if I was worried about density behind the hairline I could consider micropigmentation. I dont think I need it right now and Im on min and fin to see how that helps by the end of the year. Hair fibers are also an option if things get noticeable and I dont want to do the micropigmentation.

Also was it easy enough getting picked up from airport etc? thanks
Regular Member Tres Posted November 12, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted November 12, 2023 I did not pay by card and also didn't use the taxi service they provide myself, but I know they pick clients up from the exit inside the airport and drop them off straight outside the hotel. So if you decide to carry cash it should be pretty safe either way. Which airport are you flying in to and where are you staying?

I’m flying into instanbul airport as it’s direct flight and staying at their suites (heard it’s in the same apartment block) looking forward to getting procedure done just anxious about the travelling. Regular Member Tres Posted November 12, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) Oh staying with them is even easier! They basically have an Airbnb in the same building on a different floor as the clinic. Don't expect a luxury hotel, but it's pretty decent and felt more comfortable to come back to than to get a transfer to a hotel after surgery (the Sheraton is basically opposite of the clinic, but being able to just take the elevator down in a shirt and tracksuit bottoms was super convenient), I'll attach a few pictures. On the first night they had food and breakfast sitting in the apartment for me which was a nice touch and in the morning they just pick you up from the room and take you up to the clinic. Depending on what time you arrive there is a really nice mall (Watergarden) with a decent food court and some restaurants about 400 meters away from the suites to grab some food and/or snacks on the first night. Ataşehir district is quite businessy so there is not too much else to see in the area so it was nice to have look there. Airport wise, Istanbul has got two airports, one on the Asian, one on the European side. SAW airport is closer than IST, but if you're getting picked up it from IST doesn't matter. Might even see a bit of the city as you have to cross the Bosporus over the bridge (depending on the time you might get stuck in traffic though). All in all Dr. Biçer makes it quite easy for her patients. It's still Istanbul, so depending on where you come from it might feel a little loud and overwhelming esp. with a bunch of cash in your wallet and shortly before getting any kind of surgery. I had been to Turkey and Istanbul a couple of times so I was pretty comfortable, but I'm sure you'll be fine too. If it makes you too nervous and you can afford the difference, pay by card, but if money is a little more tight, there is no issue on the Turkish side bringing cash if you're getting picked up. Hope this helps, I've been meaning to do a full write-up of my experience this year, which I will, but you chose a great f*in surgeon with Dr. Biçer. She did a great job, was super competent and sweet at the same time and I felt super comfortable with the whole team. Thanks for giving me an insight, it has definitely made me feel a bit more relaxed about travelling over now after reading that. Also good to know that theirs a shopping centre close by so I can grab some food! I fly into IST airport and have arranged a transfer through the clinic, I looked into flying to SAW airport as I believe it’s closer but their was no direct flights unfortunately. Yeah I’m feeling excited to get the procedure done by dr bicer, spent my time doing the research over the last few years and will hopefully be able to share how I got on with the whole experience also.

I stayed at the Sheraton mostly because the closer spot was booked up. Sheraton was great but Ive heard great things about both spots so I don't think you can go wrong (Sheraton’s rates were a bit more price wise per night though). I opted to have them arrange airport pickups/transfers. Worked out fine but I also recommend you get cell phone service for peace of mind in case you need to call/text them. Then during my stay I just walked around mostly to the mall area. The mall had a lot of food options too. I did do one day trip to Ayasofya (Hagia Sophia) and the Blue Mosque just to see the sights while I was there (I stayed over the weekend and had an extra day to burn before the procedure).
Regular Member ScottishGuy21 Posted November 12, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) I flew to Istanbul rather than SAW, it’s a little further but it’s no big issue. I got met at the airport for transfer which was ideal, the choice of airport is nothing to worry about except an extra 20-30 mins transit. I paid by cash and again had no issues, the apartment had a safe in it from memory too. It’s really handy staying there. It’s literally a 30 second lift ride from her clinic. Post surgery I wasn’t in the mood to go out for food but you can also get a delivery too (Surgery didn’t finish for me till 7-8ish so it was a long day). There’s leaflets in Turkish in the apartment but if you run it by Dr Bicers assistant she can arrange it. Really nice food! You’ve chosen a great surgeon who cares deeply about her patients.
