Regular Member XNB Posted October 14, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted October 14, 2022 Hi everyone, A quick summary of my hair transplant so far. I figured I've learnt so much these forums over the past year, hopefully this will be interesting for someone. I had a two day surgery in Valencia with Dr. De Freitas mid September 2022. The wait was about 18 months if I remember correctly since the initial face-to-face consultation, 2850 grafts for 7500 EUR. I was really happy with the actual surgery, a massive thank to Dr. De Freitas and his team - they did everything to make me comfortable. After care has also been amazing, dedicated WhatsApp number to answer any questions that I have. Before pictures: Day of the surgery: (sorry don't know why some of these are upside down.. it only happens after I upload them here) Day 4: Day 10 (scabs washed out): I was a little surprised that 2850 grafts were needed to fill in the area, after seeing photos on here of much larger areas being filled with the similar amounts but hopefully the density will be good. The doctor prescribed: Finasteride 0.5mg Tue/Wed/Thu/Sat/Sun Dutasteride 0.5mg Mon/Fri Oral Minoxidil 5mg daily - but I have decided not to take that, personal choice. I had a hair transplant to avoid putting even more drugs into my body everyday for the rest of my life and the potential positives did not convince me for the potential negatives. At least at the moment, I will revisit it in a few years perhaps. Shampoo - Ketoconazole (Nizoral) 2% (twice a week) Complidermol 5 Alfa plus (vitamins) daily Before surgery I had been taking Finasteride 1mg daily for about 1.5 years but I couldn't say whether this had any effect to be honest. So, now I'm on 0.5mg Finasteride but with the added Dutasteride.

Regular Member XNB Posted October 14, 2022 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 14, 2022 So that's where I am now.. Day 30 and preparing for the next few months wait. There is something a bit strange going on with my crown, it's like the hair is clumped together but touching it, it's not actually stuck with anything. I hoping it's just something that will grow out and maybe combined with some shock loss around the area. My crown looked better at Day 10 compared with now. I'm also a little concerned as there are many grafts where the hair hasn't grown at all since it was implanted (compared with many grafts which has) - I'm hoping these are not all going to be failed grafts because it looks like a decent percentage. Will wait and see!
Senior Member HairEnthusiast101 Posted October 15, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted October 15, 2022 18 months? Wowza. He is great for sure. I wouldn’t really be worried about anything this early. The work looks clean and I’m certain it will come out flawless. You researched and went to one of the best so I’m certain everything is just healing and getting ready to go through the ugly phase and then grow!
Senior Member Hairy Henderson Posted October 15, 2022 Senior Member Share Posted October 15, 2022 (edited) So you were on Fin before but after Defreitas prescribed you Dut? Thanks

Interesting why only 0.5mg fin? I'm not really sure, I just presumed it was because of the added Dut, 1mg wasn't necessary. But I was taking 1mg before with no sides.. we'll see. I guess things could change at the 3 month review - I think what he has prescribed is his 'standard' post surgery mix.

Surprised the doctor suggested Dut. Isn't Dut way more powerful in both effects and potential issues? If fin was already working, not sure why Dut was necessary. Is it a requirement of the doctor for you to take Dut? I know it was either him or Couto that required fin, but never heard about requiring Dut. On a tangent I suspect why the results of Freitas are so good is a combination of good workmanship AND the fin, to prevent any shock loss and further thinning. I don't know if it's a requirement as such, I never questioned it. Can only trust with all his experience, this is the combination that has been chosen to give the best results for the most people. I'm sure there will be cases where it's tailored to the individual as well though.

Regular Member Mike8000fue Posted November 20, 2022 Regular Member Share Posted November 20, 2022 Nice hairline. What i do not like is that he implant the grafts a bit in lines and i saw this on more patients, who did the implatation? Beside this everything looks good. Happy growing! Regular Member goatnole Posted October 16, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted October 16, 2023 I was considering De Freitas my self, because of the hairlines he creates. But wrote him off because he makes the implants in a pattern. You clearly see the rows. With short hair it is a problem and you can clearly see it on the pictures
