Regular Member NeedHair75 Posted January 23, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted January 23, 2010 I am pursuing getting a hair transplant but need to know if there are any TOP doctors in Chicago for this. On this site, only three are recommended but are there any more? The ones listed aren't giving me the feeling that they're the best.
Topcat611
I am also from Chicago. Do not let distance be a hurdle. My particular situation called for in my opinion the absolute best fue clinic in the world. The clinic also needed to be both ethical and honest. It took me 10 years of searching in order to find that place. So take your time. My choice was BHR in Brussels, Belgium. You can read more in the follow my major repair thread. I am always open to both e-mail and phone conversations if you need any help. The only compensation I receive is the satisfaction of knowing I have helped someone avoid the same mistakes I have made. My first hair transplant was about 25 years ago and I have been watching this industry very closely.
Regular Member NeedHair75 Posted January 24, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 24, 2010 Sorry to hear about your problems with getting a hair transplant. I can't imagine what that must had been like! Unfortunately, I do not have the liberty or option to go elsewhere for a top doctor. Since I can not afford this procedure on my own, my parents are generous enough to foot the bill but won't pay for travel expenses. So I am subjugated to Chicago-only doctors. Topcat611
You do not necessarily have to travel overseas. But if you are limited to just the Chicago area, my advice would be to wait. You need to learn much more then you already know. Best of luck to you.
Raphael84
Well, whilst I strongly disagree with your geographical morals, especially considering clinics often discount for travel expenses, meaning that travel is often cheaper, less more expensive, you are extremely luck to be located in the Chicago area. A hotbed of contemporary leading HT physicians. I would suggest you begin your research with Dr's Konier and Panine. Both are hugely respected surgeons with track records that cannot be beaten. Good luck! Regular Member Konior_Patient Posted January 25, 2010 Regular Member Share Posted January 25, 2010 NeedHair75, you stated that "The ones listed aren't giving me the feeling that they're the best." I respectfully ask as to why you feel this way about the Chicago doctors? Have you interviewed any of the docs? I had my transplants done by Dr. Konior. My hair looks great and I couldn't be happier. I had 1050 grafts and you can view my five and seven month updates here. Good Luck!
Bill - Seemiller
Needhair, I'm not sure why you have a "feeling" that the physicians recommended on this site aren't the best in Chicago. However in my opinion, take a look this forum and view the dozens of examples of Dr. Konior's, Dr. Panine's, and Dr. Keller's work and consult with each of them. I think you'll find their results, ethics, and dedication to patient care are among the highest quality and caliber. Best wishes, Bill
Senior Member aaron1234 Posted January 25, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted January 25, 2010 In Chicago? Konior. Hands down, incredible stuff. But may I also recommend a short 6 hour drive north to Bloomington, MN for Shapiro Medical Group. Senior Member Forrest Gump Posted January 25, 2010 Senior Member Share Posted January 25, 2010 NeedHair75, most of the clinics that I am aware of usually give a generous travel discount (and sometimes full reimbursement) for out of town patients. Regular Member NeedHair75 Posted January 25, 2010 Author Regular Member Share Posted January 25, 2010 Forest Gump, I've read many times here on the forums that travel expenses are covered by doctors but how do I go about asking for this...especially when I'm going in for a consultation? Will they mention it or do I simply ask "will you cover my travel out there"?
