Even with fin, it's very possible that region gets killed due to shock loss given how weak it is.

Thank you (and @asterix0) will definitely need to consider this fairly well (and was also part of the reason for the question about the hair system effectiveness vs)

Did Zarev ask you to be on topical fin or any meds? I thought he is fine with someone not using meds.

He recommended minoxidil but not Finasteride as he doesn't really like recommending it it seemed. (maybe a topical minoxidil+fin solution but struggling to remember). But also said some of his patients don't use it at all.

9 months. Some non flash followed pics with flash. No product. May post some pics with a new powdered texturizing powder I’ve been trying. Things are going great.

Hey man, so I have my surgery scheduled with Dr. Zarev in January (reached out a couple years ago and did my consultation in January 2023).

I'm hoping to not be on Minoxidil or Fin (had Minoxidil side effects). My hair profile was I guess pretty average, but with decently thick skin (he mentioned it's harder, but doable, just takes longer if I recall).

Here's my pics from the visit:

@mtb You previously wore a hair system. I haven't tried it, but was curious on your thoughts of hair system vs ht? Planning to go ahead (and excited about) the surgery. The hairline is a bit high, and will need to figure out the right hair style (I'm 40, so had the flipped up/straight in front hair style - better than today's broccoli in fairness:)), but also hoping to avoid meds so not going to try and push it up lower.

Anyways, as hadn't tried a Hair System, just was curious on your opinion as you mentioned you had used one for a few years prior.

@mphoenixThe hair system wasn’t bad once I was used to it. It’s not ideal at all and I’d rather have the transplant of course. But they can be pretty good as a hold-over option. So much depends on the brand and the attachment style. If you’re only a few months away I don’t know if you should even bother.

Honestly, you might look pretty good with a shaved head. I looked better than I thought I would when I shaved for procedure.

Really once the hair starts to grow in the hairline won’t seem so high. That’s how it was for me. Maybe it’s possible he can lower it a little bit for you for your procedure. It may not be possible for your case, but he made a slight adjustment for my case. Every case is so different.

Gotcha… yeah I agree, those patients from the photos above are probably low NW with still remaining hairline which Dr. Z just filled and followed the hairline outline. That makes sense compared to high NW which he has to make a hairline from scratch basing on where the hairline used to be. Thanks @MC117for explaining and I do apologize to derail your thread @mtb. I am not saying that there is something wrong with Hugo’s or your hairline but just stating my own opinion that I find it too “strong” for my preference. I’m pretty sure that if I see you or Hugo in person, it probably is not as what it seems to be in the photos.
I totally agree with what you said that I have to choose the surgeon that I think will be my best preference and that is best suited for my case and I have already decided that a long time ago that no doubt it is Dr. Z.
There’s a reason why I have been naming the doctors with just their last name initials and that is to make my point that I have gone through all the doctor’s reviews in the alphabet here in HRN from dr’s A-Z and have decided a while back then that I will be settling with the best and last letter of the alphabet and that is Dr. Zarev!

Anyway congratulations @mtb for your awesome result! 👏🏼 Before you go riding into the sunset and stop posting your updates, I would like to thank you for sharing your journey here in HRN. Hugo’s and your reviews and results were the reason for my decision. I am still anxiously awaiting for @anxious6 updates though lol 😆

@Mr. Clean Respectfully, I think you might be overthinking it. The pictures @MC117 posted are awesome examples. Dr Zarev will get you fixed up real nice. Gotta trust him.

Yep, it would have been two days ago August 4th if so lol

In my case, I had the date locked and reserved but paid the fee only 2 months after my consult 😇 !

@Fox243 Also as I said multiple times, he usually advises taking his solution with topical min 5%+ fin 0.1%. Most don't use it though and the results are still spectacular.

Hairlines are subjective, personally this is an impeccable result. I love the subtle widows peak, overall it’s extremely natural.

I do have to say that I agree with this. Dr Z is a legend and his transformations are insane of course, but I would say that sometimes his hairlines are not as nicely feathered as you would hope.

Not to be a negative nolly, but at a glance it’s the first thing I noticed about a few of Dr Zarevs repairs. I do totally agree with this.

There’s no doubt he improves the mental well being, and overall physical appearance of those patients and the transformations are remarkable.

There’s no doubts about Zarev

I agree.

No one would have done better with these "few repairs" people mention, especially considering from where they started (mostly very high NW and a giant area to cover).

@mphoenix I was looking at the hairline design on your photos from your appointment and noticed that you have a receding temple peak. Did Dr. Zarev mention that he will restore your temple peaks as well? Is that part of the plan on your incoming surgery? I believe with Hugo and MTB, he didn't touch their temple peaks probably because it does not need to be but it might be different in your case. Did you guys talk about it?

Thanks, that’s nice to hear. That settles the questions and I guess arguments that he doesn’t do temple peaks… or at least of what I read here somewhere in HRN.
I often see temple peaks repair with Dr. Pitella and Eugenix but not with Dr. Zarev…

In his podcast with Melvin, Dr Zarev addressed the issue of temple points and showed an example of a full temple point restoration that he did.

@mphoenixcase would be very interesting to follow since he will also restore his temple peaks... lets see how well Dr. Zarev does that as well. He is well known for restoring high NW but I haven't really seen any reviews on how well he does temple points/peak. I've read here that it can be tricky to work with but I guess nothing is impossible with the great Dr. Z...
