Regular Member duckling Posted April 25, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted April 25, 2023 Minoxidil will help you to thicken you hair which will make an illusion of increased density. But its not going to stop the hairfall caused by DHT. That can only be done with finasteride. Biotin tablet which you have mentioned previously, even that just helps in hair health but doesnt stop hair loss. So you need finasteride if you want to save your existing hair. In case you are happy with just transplanted hair then fine dont take finasteride. But the density will be less with you losing existing hair. 3 mg per week is surely a good approach for oral intake and does help with hair loss. And if you are worried so much about sides then take topical version. It works great for many people who got sides from oral version and are unable to take it. The systematic affect according to studies is less. A solution which contains minoxidil 5% with finasteride 0.1% w/v will be easily available in market. Buy it once you consult with your surgeon. Senior Member Legend007 Posted April 25, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted April 25, 2023 There’s really no reason for him to take fin anymore. Should have done that years ago to slow the process. there’s barely anymore more hair to save,, the ones that are remaining. His sides and some in the back are more dht resistant., and he’s going to have to those for along time.. the risk/reward is not worth it anymore to me

Some people get amazing re-growth from it. If there is no growth then sure using fin is of not much use to him.
Senior Member AlexMeister21 Posted April 25, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted April 25, 2023 Perhaps you can try topical finasteride to avoid side effects from oral. Progress looks pretty good at three months by the way. Can see the outline forming. 2 Dr. Laorwong - 1,837 grafts FUE + BHT (Jan. 31, 2023)

I was using topical finasteride/minodoxil for over a year before my HT and I plan to use it in again in about a week (it'll be 3 weeks since HT then). The reason I went with topical was to avoid the potential side effects I also read about. Curious what some of the more senior members think on the topical form and if that would be a good recommendation for OP.

Yeh topical is good and can be used if it helps you...it has the least side effects because less % of drug gets systematically absorbed ...but i think this can also be managed with oral medication by cutting down the dosage...for me the benefit of oral is that i can set the dosage according to the need..i can set the dosage where i can get the benefits and cut down the side effects ...so a sweet spot can be found...though it should be done by consulting a good doctor and after doing all the required reports... Regular Member HairOnMyHead Posted October 3, 2023 Author Regular Member Share Posted October 3, 2023 Im unsure why but even though I provide present-day pics there will always be a few who persistently ask for pics of the scar across the back of the head. That Frankenstein scar will never go away. It will remain with me till the end. I'm really glad I chose Absolute Hair and Dr Kongkiat. I could easily have gone to Turkey, USA or India but I hesitated because I wasn't impressed with the final results of many of the other doctors. My only concern is that I think my hairline is about 1 cm too high. I'll be returning to Thailand in the new year so will see if Dr Kongkiat agrees with me. I use Minoxidil once every morning and spray it on my scalp the maximum 8 times allowed. I then massage my scalp for about 5 minutes. At night I take biotin and Omega 3. I've only been using T-gel shampoo but would want to start using a regular shampoo and conditioner soon. The problem is I do not know which one is suitable for me so that I don't jeopardise my hair situation.

Regular Member Anon94 Posted October 3, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted October 3, 2023 The hairline height depends on the rest of your face, so I won't give judgement on that. But the rest looks fantastic. I'm sure Dr. Laorwong could - if you decide to get further hairline work - also transplant some hair into the scar. That would allow you to get some tighter hairstyles in the future. Maybe this isn't an issue for you, but I'd recommend using the minoxidil in the evenings. That way your hair looks better throughout the day.

As a pharmacy owner do you have any qualifications in pharmacy? Are you aware that one can only apply up to 8 sprays of minoxidil onto the scalp and anything more is bad? If you knew about this why didn't you mention this anywhere in the forum? On 4/26/2023 at 3:45 AM, Legend007 said: There’s really no reason for him to take fin anymore. Once in the morning and night but I started having headaches. So im only applying it in the mornings. I've always thought about this on and off for about 10 years now and I agree with you on this. For example the hair on my top and sides were straight and the back hair is wavy. Now after the HT, I have completely wavy hair if its dry and/or if I don't apply wax or gel on it. So I think that this is another consideration that one should have although not a very important one (as long as hair grows after the HT and one has a full head of hair) when wanting to do a HT. Anyways since 2014, I've been -on and off- emailing Dr Path and most of his trainees who have gone on to start their own clinics. I was most comfortable with Dr Kongkiat hence I went with him. I never had any doubt in Dr Kongkiat's abilities. It really is a pity that many of Dr Path's trainees are not mentioned here with the exception of Dr Pong and Dr Kongkiat.
