The only way to be sure is to go to an esteemed hair doctor for a consultation where he can examine you with high tech visualisation.

Looks like a perfect Norwood 1 to me, indicating no hair loss, however we cannot detect the early stages of miniaturisation from these photos.

Your hair is perfect as it is, and if you want to keep it that way, it makes sense to periodically get it examined and hop on finasteride at the first sign of miniaturisation. Nip it in the bud, and you’ll never end up like us looking to restore what you once had.

Do you mind me asking what those marks on your forehead are? Do they concern you?

@Max1,

To be honest, I don’t see any signs of hairline recession based on the photos you presented. While you are very young, very young individuals can experience hair loss. I just don’t think you are one of them at least I’m at this point. Now, if you have some comparison photos showing your hairline from when you were 15 or 16, feel free to present them and we can take a look to see if there is any visual signs of thinning in your pictures at 17 years old.

what you can do if you’re really concerned to talk to your parents or guardians about seeing a dermatologist who can run some tests and evaluate your scalp and hair under magnification and see if there are any signs of miniaturization that are not visually noticeable to the naked eye.   Truth is, and individual typically loses about 50% of their hair in a concentrate area before actually visually noticing a loss of hair.  So that to be said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting an early evaluation and test to see if you are experiencing any miniaturization or to see if you’re at risk. There are some genetic tests that can be performed to see if you are at risk of experiencing hair loss even if you’re not now.  One that comes to mind I believe is called HairDx.

all that to say however, I see absolutely no signs of thinning by looking at your hairline and if a dermatologist does find signs of intercession, the good news is you’re at the very beginning stages if you’re there at all and there are some non-surgical treatments that could help you keep the existing hair you have.  typically, finasteride is recommended for men 18 years or older but exceptions can sometimes be made by a doctor.  but minoxidil may be an option if you are actually experiencing miniaturization which I’ve this point I believe it only be determined by a dermatologist/trichologist/doctor evaluating your scalp and hair under magnification.

I hope this helps.

As per your age Your hairline is perfect. Stop stressing it out and enjoy your hair.

At the age of fifteen or seventeen MPB genes are not much aggressive (well there are exceptions).

Still if you have doubts do monitor it.
