Hairlossresearcherexpert
I’m really curious to see hair transplants in direct sunlight I was wondering if you guys could show some of your results
Senior Member StillAlive Posted July 15, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted July 15, 2023 This is a loaded ask. It's well understood that transplants only provide an illusion of density. If you are looking to pick them apart under direct sunlight/floodlights (where even full heads of hair will appear thin) it's a bit like asking people to blow out their bellies so you can measure their fitness level.
Regular Member BackFromTheBrink Posted July 15, 2023 Regular Member Share Posted July 15, 2023 Loui posted his on a recent thread (wet and in direct sun). However, as has been mentioned, I doubt few will since you need near native density to make it look solid, I think he said his was 70 per cm2. People would see that when I was on a sun lounger on holiday though. Perhaps if you explained why you wanted the picture it'd encourage people to post? Senior Member GoliGoliGoli Posted July 15, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted July 15, 2023 If I get some time I'll take some pictures in direct sunlight and post them. People often only post their best pictures (Flattering lighting/angles/sometimes even hair fibers in) on here and it's actually kind of a problem because it creates an unrealistic expectation for what HT's are capable of. Clinic posted results are useless too 95% of the time. I wish more guys were willing to post unflattering pictures side by side with their flattering ones so that people can better understand what they're diving into, but posters like that on here are relatively rare. 3
Senior Member gillenator Posted July 15, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted July 15, 2023 Dark colored hair shafts will reflect more UV light off of the scalp and just tend to look more thin. Senior Member John1991 Posted July 15, 2023 Senior Member Share Posted July 15, 2023 (edited) Here is up close in various lighting circumstances. From intense sunlight with a good amount of pomade in my hair post-shower (first picture) to reasonably harsh indoor light and fully dry hair (last). It's not perfect, but it wasn't perfect before. The third picture is next to a window. This is roughly 55-60 FU/cm^2 and my hair is fine/soft - neither super thick or super thin. I don't think this question is unreasonable or "loaded" either. That said, if you look at even the average person without hair loss (or with just minor recession) under harsh sunlight up close, you'll notice they don't generally have an impenetrable wall of hair. I think it's important to keep hair transplant expectation standards high - though this must be balanced with the understanding that imperfections/irregularities are very common even amongst people with "good" hair in nature. What's even worse are pictures of 3rd and 4th month post ht already looking like it has reached full density because of certain angles and lighting. Guys come on this is not instagram, we want to inform and educate people, please show us your best and also worst possible angles and lighting when updating your own posts.
