Senior Member TakeAction Posted April 12 Senior Member Share Posted April 12 Final result is very dense. How do you avoid shock loss when the patient has this much native hair? 1 Dr. Ted Miln | 6005 grafts, FUT/FUE Combo | June 2024

Effluvium after surgery can happened but those hairs will grow back due to not direct injury to them. Medication is also the important factor that help avoiding severe shock loss. In this patient, I gave him on oral minoxidil 4 months prior to surgery.

How long before surgery would be necessary in order for it to have any protective effect?
Dr.Ratchathorn Panchaprate
Yes, topical or oral minoxidil can help some. I recommended at least 2 months. You can read more from the slides from my talk at ISHRS meeting last year.
