Oral Minoxidil - UK

Hey,

Been on Oral Fin 0.5mg and 5% topical Minoxdil foam for around 2 years to stabilize my hair loss. ive seen density / thickness improve around the crown area (no idea whether thats fin or min though) but no real massive difference in applying minoxidil around the frontal third / hairline.

thinking of jumping to oral minoxidil whilst monitoring heart / BP.

where does everyone get Oral Min from the UK? is it mainly online via Hims / Manual?

planning on getting a HT done in 6 months and going through consultations currently..

appreciate feedback....

Thanks!

You can get a box of 60 tablets of 2.5mg Oral Minoxidil (Pfizer/Loniten brand) from OxfordOnlinePharmacy for £53 after filling in an online consultation form. You could also buy from Hims or Manual if they sell their own version of Oral Minoxidil, it might even be cheaper but personally I use Loniten as it works well for me.

HairRepairClinic is another legitimate source and sells generic Oral Minoxidil at both 2.5m and 5mg. 60 tablets of 5mg works out to be £44.99 which you can half and effectively get 120 days worth.

I initially used to buy from OxfordOnlinePharmacy but these days I have a private prescription from a doctor so I can just pop it into any pharmacy and buy directly from them, it works out to be around £19 for a box of 60 tablets (online pharmacies rip you off!).

do you take it at a set time say perhaps just before bed?

No problem! I take two 2.5mg tablets per day, one in the morning (just before 9AM) and one in the evening (just before 9PM).

I started with 1.25mg and slowly titrated up.

anyone else chime in on frequency of both taken together?

hi all,

any chance anyone who takes oral fin + oral min can confirm whether they takes both tablets at the same time in the day? or it one taken in the morning and one in the evening?

Thanks!

I take generic of both for over a year now. At the same time so don't forget.

I asked at the time amd was told they do not interact with each other so is OK. But ive often thought should I research this more

Often with medication it can be taken at night to reduce any side effects during your sleep. Also your testosterone levels are highest early morning so many people take finasteride at night to best counter this. Again, always be guided by your physician.

If you're considering transitioning from topical to oral minoxidil and are based in the UK, options for obtaining oral minoxidil typically involve online platforms like Hims or Manual, which specialize in telemedicine and prescription services. It's important to continue monitoring your heart rate and blood pressure closely, as oral minoxidil can affect cardiovascular function more than topical applications. Given your plan for a hair transplant in six months, ongoing consultation with healthcare professionals is crucial to ensure your treatment plan aligns with your hair restoration goals and overall health considerations. They can also provide guidance on sourcing oral minoxidil safely and effectively within the UK regulatory framework. Let me know if you bought it.
Edit: I forgot to say that I am also thinking about buying it.

yep i purchased from Oxford Online and came relatively quickly no issues.

haven't started as of yet however as i am having some blood work done. (my kidney function was a bit high 18 months ago potentially due to high protein diet). from my research this medication is probably not best for individuals with underlying cardiac or renal issues.
