i have had this effect on transplanted hairs, but it subsided after about 2 years, my hair became soft again. is this typical/ is it possible to happen to hair that transplant was near? is there a chance of damaging exising hair if you transplant into existing hair?

I am already experiencing this, but I believe it will settle down over time.

Yes I have straight hair and it happened to me, after a year or so it became much better, apparently the donor hair, if allowed to grow long , will also have some curl.

My hair has naturally always laid forward, but post-transplant is sticks straight up. I don't mind it though. It's just different.

That is a different issue, that has to do with the angle grafts were implanted. Who performed your surgery?

Mine was wiry for 6 months.  Kept getting better after that.  2+ years after, very good healthy looking.

Transplanted hair can take 18 months to 2 years to soften and lose the curly, wiryness.
