Finasteride Side Effects - Persisting?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have been off Finasteride for 8 weeks now, with barely any improvement in my sexual side effects.

From what I've read, most users will have side effects disappear quickly after stopping the medication.

As its now been 8 weeks off the drug, I am getting concerned that this may be a case of Post Finasteride Syndrome.

Has anyone experienced the same thing or have any advice? Thank you.

@Melvin- Admin As you've dealt with these side effects in the past, do you have any advice? Much appreciated.

I saw earlier that you posted a month ago that you were 30-40% recovered. Would you say you are still the same as that?

Yes, I would say same, around 30-40%. I read that most people are supposed to make full recovery after a few weeks?

It can take a few months. What are the side effects? If it’s sexual, remember the mind is the most powerful sexual organ. If you believe you will have dysfunction, you will have dysfunction. I suggest taking some daily cialis that can be purchased online rather easily to get you through this period.

My side effects are 100% sexual (Low Libido and ED). How long did it take for you to return to normal?

If/When fully recovered from sides, would you recommend starting Finasteride again on a low dose / Topical ? Thanks.

@James K. it can vary in terms of the length of time that people find their libido returning after ceasing finasteride. I have tried everything from 1mg a day to different attempts at micro dosing over the past few years. All lead to loss of libido at around the 2 month mark. When I did cease finasteride I found that my libido bounced back after roughly a couple of weeks. I know it's frustrating but I would take a viagra or cialis until your mind stops thinking about it and your libido returns. With dutasteride it can take up to six months for sexual side effects to disappear so don't be hard on yourself with these drugs. I'm not a doctor but I would recommend trying topical finasteride next time prescribed by a dermatologist if you are considering trying finasteride again. Wishing you all the best!

I took fin for around 1 year along with minoxidil. I did not see my hairless improve the year I was on it. combined with the sexual side effects I did not think it was worth it so I stopped. my sexual sides were decreased ejaculation fluid, weaker force of ejaculation, watery semen, and of course ED. Had to take Cialis before sex and if you don't know Cialis doesn't give you instant erections like viagra, so its doesn't work 100% of time like viagra, so there were def some awkward moments in the bedroom when you couldn't get hard even though you were ready to go. even ten Years later I still feel the effects from the fin. force of ejaculations still decreased, and sperm volume decreased. so I believe post fin syndrome does exist.

I think it's all individual. some ppl bounce back from sides faster with no lingering effects, and some like me have permanent effects from it.  the fact that I still had sides from a drug I took a decade ago makes me never want to take it ever again, I'm afraid it will permanently neuter me.

also if you have sides on fin, def do not touch dut. I believe that def can neuter you within a short time frame. I took one application of topical dut from anagenica and I had ED, and painful ejaculation, and penis head pain for around 5 months before the sides wore off. I'm clearly more sensitive to anti-androgens, but I think more ppl should speak up and destigmatize the side effects some of us my experience with these drugs.
