Botched my donor. If possible I'm looking for repair options

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

A little background, I went to Turkey about 3 years ago and received a hair transplant as I was a norwood 6-7 diffuse thinner. My donor was absolutely decimated; one side is bad and the other is horrid. The irony is that the transplant results combined with Dutasteride have been amazing but I still have to wear a hat everywhere I go because of my donor. This has caused me to withdraw socially and has placed my dating life on pause. I have not posted my pics here because I'm legitimately embarrassed and ashamed of my botched donor.

I'm ready for my donor repair process begin as I can't continue to keep living in shame. I've looked at Mwamba and have come to the conclusion that he would be the best candidate for the repair. The only issue is the affordability for donor repair. I'm in no way shape or form seeking a cheap bad transplant, I'm seeking quality doctors but I would like to get a better idea of the go to surgeons and perhaps better pricing options before deciding on someone. I might still go with Mwamba at the end of the day.

Can you guys recommend any surgeons with experience with donor repair?

Any of the top doctors with a body of repair work will be able to do this: Mwamba, Bisanga, Feriduni, Ball, Hattingen. Unfortunately none of them will come cheaply.

It would be very useful to see some photos - sometimes the situation is not as bad as people think. It would also be extremely beneficial to know which clinic you went to/who the surgeon was as obviously it sounds as though this is a place to avoid.

Thanks for the response! I'm sorry I didn't mention the clinic. I went to Asli Tarcan; they butchered my donor despite me voicing my concerns of overharvesting to them several times. I might come around to posting pictures on this later.

I'm think that it'll need about 1,700 grafts to look decent

I see. Asli Tarcan do in fact have that reputation and we have another case of similar poor work + donor repair after having been botched by Asli Tarcan. See @RTC’s profile.

Hello, you can check also HDC hair clinic in Cyprus, Dr Maras and Dr Vrionidou are excellent. They perform a lot of repairs most of them from Turkeys clinics. If you can show us some pictures I can help you and give you the right feedback.

Sorry to hear you went through this, I know exactly how you feel, I was very self conscious about my decimated donor until I got my repairs done

Unfortunately, donor repair is expensive territory....I echo the list Berba was giving you and you have my own experience with Dr Ball as testimonial to their quality

Other good options that might be coming in on a lower price point would be Devroye in Belgium and Bruno Ferreira in Portugal, who have experience in this area

Best of luck!

Two successful repairs (pluggy hairline removal + donor restoration) with Dr Ball - The Maitland Clinic

Can you post some pictures to see how does your donor look like?
