Senior Member WhiteyUK Posted 22 hours ago Senior Member Share Posted 22 hours ago Depends on the dose for me mate… - tried 1mg/day had sides - tried 0.5mg/day still sides - then tried 0.25mg every other day, no sides and increased to every day after a month and have been taking that dose now for maybe 6 months or more. everyone is different so worth trying different doses, but some is better than none

Senior Member Doron Harati Posted 21 hours ago Senior Member Share Posted 21 hours ago It's very personal how it effects between every user. We have patients who use daily oral Finasteride over years without side effects, and others like me who suffered libido side effects, but today I use topical formula of Finasteride mixed with Minoxidil over 3 years without side effects, very rare to have complaints from topical formula. Regular Member sankhadip Samanta Posted 20 hours ago Regular Member Share Posted 20 hours ago I recommend getting baseline blood work done before starting finasteride to monitor your health and any potential changes.

That makes sense I will look into that so basically if my dht isn’t high I wouldn’t need finasteride? Or maybe really small dose

It's hard to give an accurate judgement of donor without it being grown out a little, but optically looks a little sparse. Although personally I am very sensitive to these meds, lot of people can tolerate them just fine. I would try it out and see if it works for you. Side effects happen in a small minority of people. Don't take it from me, or from any other one on this forum. Ash1989
Does finasteride give you more donor hair ? Or better hair for harvesting before a transplant?

Unfortunately, I forgot to take baseline measurements myself. I recommend consulting a professional and undergoing these tests under their guidance.

Theoretically you can dose it as small as you’re able to cut the pills. Im not a doctor, but if you wanted to ease your way in you could take 0.5mg two or three days a week maximum and see how you get on. You then have the option of upping the dosage or upping the frequency (or both). A lot of guys take 0.5mg Mon/Wed/Fri and seem to do well. I currently do this same schedule with 1mg, but will probably revert back to 0.5mg soon.
Valued Contributor Gatsby Posted 11 hours ago Valued Contributor Share Posted 11 hours ago @Ash1989 if this is the first time taking finasteride then I would just take it as prescribed. If and I mean ‘if’ you get sides then you can always start again microdosing it. 1 GATSBY 'UNPLUGGED!' 15,671 (3 surgeries) Grafts FUE+BHT Dr. Sethi Eugenix
Regular Member Sunshine09 Posted 6 hours ago Regular Member Share Posted 6 hours ago Hey, I would recommend a pill cutter and cut the tablet in half. Then take 0.5g 3x a week (mon, wed, fri). Do that for a month or two and dont think about the side effects, apprecaite its harder than said. Hopefully you shouldn't get any with that dosage. After that increase the frequency to 5x a week (still saying on the 0.5g) for another 3 months. Then after 6 months, take 7x a week I.e daily 0.5g. There is no need to start at 1mg as most do not need that much in their system. Finasteride peaks around the 5.5mg weekly amount therfore 7g weekly is unnecessary and causes unnecessary side effects (not in all individuals). Always start from low dosages. I've been taking for nearly 3 years now and have made mistakes eith the higher dosages and learnt from them. Good luck
Regular Member sankhadip Samanta Posted 3 hours ago Regular Member Share Posted 3 hours ago In addition to my previous comment, I also experienced watery semen after one month of taking 1mg of finasteride daily, but this subsided after 2.5 months. I just completed my fourth month of taking 1mg of finasteride daily, and my dermatologist has now recommended reducing the dosage to every other day.
