Hey all.

So I've been on a cocktail of hair loss drugs the past few years, and Ru58841 is one of them

I'm currently on

2.5mg MINOXIDIL every day

.5mg Dutasteride MWF

And 1mg Topical Ru58841 every day

TRT to offset Dutasteride side effects

Also on biotin, collagen powder, and Vitamin D3

My question is, is Ru58841 even worth it?

I'm still losing hair where I put Ru58841, I'm losing around 200 hairs a day on the front of my head. And my dht levels are already low. Should I still be on Ru58841? It's a pain to put on.

Vitamins and Biotin are for people who lack of vitamins or suffer hairloss and poor growth of finger nails, only blood test will inform you if you need these supplements.

Biotin and vitamins won't effect the DHT hormone, only Finasteride, and Minoxidil for better blood supply to the roots of the hairs, I only consume Minoxidil and Finasteride.

Over the years I see many patients getting scammed from hair mills and fake influencers to consume biotin and some people consume 5000-10000 MCG which is dangerous if your body doesn't really need it.

Yeah I'm low on vitamin D I know i need that.

As for biotin I don't know but I think it's making my hair grow faster at least

I'm more worried about the Ru58841  if I need to continue that.

It is an androgen antagonist so competes with DHT and binds to the androgen receptors, essentially "blocking" DHT from binding to it first. It's efficacy is not really well understood and studies are also lacking in terms of long term safety profile.

I have read anecdotal evidence from people on the Internet with varying degrees of success, which prompted me to try it.

In my opinion a DHT blocker like Fin or Dut is sufficient for the majority of us in terms of halting further hair loss. Those that cannot tolerate oral or topical Fin/Dut could give RU a go, additionally any individuals where oral Fin/Dut is not enough they can consider RU or something like KX-286 (also an androgen antagonist like RU) to supplement DHT blocking.

I tried RU-58841 for 3 months to see if it would help reverse hair loss and encourage further hair growth, I can't say it did much in that department so I stopped using it. Mind you I was/am on oral Dut and my hair loss has already stabilised.

If your hair loss has halted with Dut then I see no reason to continue with RU. You may see increased hair loss in the areas you apply RU as it probably induces a shed, which usually means it is doing something. But if you are not experiencing any further hair loss that means you have stabilised and that's as good as it's going to get. So there is no point applying RU, it will not magically regrow hair, in my experience anyway.
